A visit to Father Franco

I should have this entry post last Saturday night or last Sunday, but anyway here’s some glimpse on what we’ve done last Saturday.

My Ucle and Aunt brought me to Father Franco last Saturday. Father Franco is an Italian Priest who lives in Buda also in that trip we had a company a friend and a regular blog reader of Uncle who happens to be in town with his fiancee Elena. Buda is a 2 hours drive away from Davao City. Before reaching Buda, you will passed by Marilog Disrtict and Bukidnon. This place is quiet cold especialy during morning. Eventhough, it was already afternoon, we still saw the fogs on the area and feel the coldness of it’s temperature.

When we’re in Bukidnon, we can’t help ourselves but to appreciate the beautiful flowers that we’ve seen along the way. That’s why we decided to drop by and have some photos of it. Is this particular place you will really encounter different kinds of plants that you cannot find in Davao City, one main reason for this is the weather that they have.

When we reach in Father Franco’s place, we saw him with wide smile on his face. I can tell that he’s so happy to see his friends again. We brought some rambutan, banana, mangoesteen, and of course durian (we didn’t know that he likes durian). Of course Father Franco let us taste his homemade stuff. He does a lot of of homemade stuffed like the sundried tomatoes, pesto and tuna herbs. All of the herbs that he used on his homemade products comes from his own garden. He also made a liquor out from the calamansi and I even tasted it. It’s quiet good for me. It’s not that hard though, but I was get drunk eventhough I had only two shots (I’m not a drinker he he he). Bruce even grab me to let me taste the other kind of wine that Father has been preserving the LBC (not the usual LBC courier that we think). It’s Laurel, Basil and Cinnamon mixed together. I didn’t tasted it.

While Uncle Bob, Father Franco and Bruce had thier conversation, Aunt Feyma, Elena and I went to the Nursery were there are a hundred or more rabbits were placed. I took some photo of it. There was also a few days old rabbit. I even put it in my palm. It’s cute though. We also went to Father’s garden, there we saw an american tomato, thyme, basil, laurel, and different herbs. He has also a lettuce, and I am tempted to eat it ha ha ha.

At around 5:30 we headed home to Davao for it’s not that safe anymore to drive specially that the fog was started to covered the road. But before we reached home, Bruce decided to treat us for dinner. Of course my Uncle who are expert in choosing a good restaurant recommend De Bon Te ko. The said restaurant was own by Henny (don’t know his family name). He was very much customer oriented. As usual they had thier conversation regarding his secret on the success of his restaurant.

Truly, i had so much fun on those trip by meeting Father Franco. Thank you to my Uncle Bob and Aunt Feyma.

  1. Father Franco’s place sounds nice from the way you described it. He being Italian, he made his native sun dried tomatoes and wine. Would you know the name of that red/orange flower?

    Thanks for sharing your mini-adventure.

  3. Hi Mari- I really don’t know what’s the name of that flowers. The guy who were selling those flowers told us the name but I forgot it or let us say that it didn’t sink in in my mind because we’re all carried away with the beautiful scenery that we’ve seen.

Hopefully I can explore more places here in Mindanao.:)

Glad- thank’s for calling this morning. Definitely, when you and Carlo will be in town, Uncle will surely bring you to Father Franco. But don’t forget to bring him Durian. That’s one of his favorite. Hahahaha
